PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTION STATEMENT

The Personal Information Collection Statement (“PICS”) sets out the purposes for which your personal data will be used after collection. You may be required to provide personal information to RBL-HKCB when you use RBL-HKCB’s services in the capacity of a member (or potential member), a donor, a volunteer, intern, researcher, an online user of RBL-HKCB’s website or social media pages and other online services, or in any other capacity. We use cookies on our website.

Scope Of Application

The PICS applies to information we collect about you directly or indirectly whether through you or through third parties including but not limited to :-

a. When you provide it to us directly via telephone, letter, email, text / messaging service or the RBL-HKCB forms or via an organisation working for us (e.g. a fundraising agency);

b. When you give other organisations or third parties consent to share it with us;

c. When we collect it as you use our website or social media pages and apps; and

d. When required by law.

Information Collection

Information that we collect may include the following:

Identity related information:

We may collect information regarding your full name (including former names), contact details such as email address, contact number(s), postal and residential address, business address, occupation, nationality, gender, and where required special information such as marital status, race, ethnicity, health related information, and documents (including identity documents to ascertain such information), bank account details and credit card details if you are making donations or subscriptions.

Information for compliance:

We may collect all such information as required by law from time to time.

Publicly available information:

We may collect information about you that is publicly available including but not limited to information from third parties such as government agencies, regulatory bodies, information service providers, credit reporting agencies and social media platforms.

Use of your personal data

RBL-HKCB may use your personal data for one or more of the following purposes and /or any other purposes brought to your attention from time to time:

a. For processing your enquiries and requests;

b. For providing information about products, services, and events;

c. For processing donations, acceptance of donations, as well as for compliance with legal requirements in relation to donations and donors;

d. For organizing activities and events whether independently or in collaboration with other organisations;

e. For promoting our causes and contacting you for this purpose;

f. For fundraising (including sale of poppies for Poppy Day and sale of wreaths throughout the year) and for administering the fundraising including but not limited to reporting requirements;

g. For providing welfare assistance (including financial services);

h. For allowing access to resources and archives;

i. For facilitating our membership intake procedures and for processing membership subscriptions as well as for administering membership records;

j. For facilitating our internship intake procedures as well as for administering internships;

k. For facilitating our volunteer intake procedures as well as for administering volunteer records;

l. For the functioning, development, and improvement of the services we provide including our website;

m. For conducting research into issues affecting the armed forces community;

n. To manage and administer our relationship with you and/or your representatives; and

o. For reasons required by applicable law;

Your personal data is necessary for the abovementioned purposes, and we may not be able to carry out any or all of the purposes unless we receive and use your personal data.
